The Department of Education (DepEd) recognized the literacy program of FCF Minerals Corporation as a hall of famer of the department’s best literacy program award after the company got the recognition consistently.
FCF Minerals has been the first place winner of the award in regional search for the years 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 as best literacy program implementer.
The firm’s Philippine country manager and acting general manager for operations Ian Moller said the program called “Handog Aral sa Ikauunlad ng Buhay” has been the flagship program of the mining firm ever since it started in 2007.
The literacy program is intended for the villagers of Barangay Runruno in Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya during the exploration and operations period of FCF Minerals in the area.
Marianne Ciano, an awarded regional finalist for the call of entries by the Literacy Coordinating Council’s (LCC) 2018 Coffee Table Book featuring success stories in literacy programs, also received DepEd’s Certificate of Recognition during the same event.
Ciano, after successfully overcoming her struggles and managing to pass the ALS national examination, is now working as an accredited FCF Safety Officer.
According to Agnes Rosales, FCF Community Relations Manager, due to the overwhelming support of stakeholders, FCF Minerals’ literacy program become a success.
“As our flagship program, it gave hope and opportunity to those who have not finished school to continue with their learnings in order to achieve their dreams of a good life,” she said.
Aside from winning DepEd’s regional 2018 best literacy program implementer December 27 last year in Meynard’s Resort in Tuguegarao City, FCF Minerals’ literacy program also placed 3rd at the national awarding ceremony held at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City in September 2018.
