OceanaGold Philippines, Inc. (OGPI) received recognitions for its programs and initiatives during the 11th Annual Global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Summit and Awards 2019 in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The Didipio Mine as Best Environmental Excellence (Platinum), Empowerment of Women (Platinum), Provision of Literacy and Education (Gold), and Best Workplace Practices (Silver) were among the lauded programs in the awarding.
OGPI Logistics and Services Manager Glen Duncan, accompanied by Principal Social Ecology Advisor Bonifacio Labatos Jr., Communications Specialist Christian Co, Didipio L&D Specialist Marivic Walihon, and Didipio Biodiversity Restoration & Forestry Sr. Supervisor Tenessee Baguilat, received the accolades.
“It is again proven that we, from OceanaGold, continuously strengthen our partnership with our government and our community creating impacts that go beyond mere business transactions – where we serve an extensive array of human values which cannot be captured by only concentrating on economic value and profit,” David Way, Didipio Mine General Manager, said in an article by the Philippine Information Agency.
OceanaGold’s Didipio has been constantly commended for its CSR initiatives aimed at environment enhancement and community development. In fact, in last year’s Global CSR Summit and Awards, it was given a Special Citation Award for 5 Consecutive Years of CSR Excellence.
Meanwhile, Global CSR Awards Chairperson Dr. Martin Blake who is also a Director Speaker and Mentor with specialized expertise in board direction and governance said “it’s essential that organization take the issues of social, environmental, and prosperity side of the equation very seriously” especially now that we are moving forward to the transparency, the social media, and the other forms that the media bring.
The awarding, considered the most prestigious CSR summit and awards, was attended by almost 300 delegates from Australia, Dubai, UAE, Taiwan, and India, among others.
