As part of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR’s) Priority Programs and Projects, personnel of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region XIII participated in a reorientation workshop on Spatial Data Information and Analysis on Friday, February 27.
Conducted in Butuan City but the DENR’s Planning Management Division – Geographic Information System (GIS), the workshop aimed to generate spatial data information and analysis based on strategic location and area covered in a map with their CY 2019 Priority Programs and Projects target.
According to a Philippine Information Agency (PIA) report, the GIS Focal Person of MGB-XIII was assigned to generate location and area covered maps per the assessment by the local government units concerning geohazards, groundwater resources, and responsible mining.
The map, which also served as an output during the workshop, was collected by the Central GIS database for Spatial Data Information and Analysis of the DENR-XIII.
Inventory of the “Minahang Bayan,” and sand and gravel’ Geological assessment for risk reduction and resiliency program; Updating of the 1:10,000-scale geohazard map; Geologic quadrangle mapping; and Groundwater resource and vulnerability assessment were also shared during the activity.
Focal Persons of the DENR-XIII, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region XIII, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENRO), and City Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENRO) of the Caraga Region also participated in the program.
