To prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-2019), mining operations in Surigao del Norte will be suspended starting from April 1.Â
This was according to Nickel Asia Corp. and Global Ferronickel Holdings Inc., two of the biggest nickel ore miners and exporters.
The two mining firms separately received a suspension order issued by the provincial government on March 28.
Nickel Asia said the suspension order covers the entry of foreign vessels.
