FCF Minerals Corporation has tapped its unspent Social Development and Management Programs (SDMP) funds to support the government’s efforts against the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“This is in response to the advice of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) for mining companies to use our remaining funds from our SDMP to support the affected impact and non-impact communities due to the COVID-19,” said FCF Minerals Corp. Manager for Sustainability Ian Moller in a report.
Moller said that together with the provincial, municipal, and barangay local government units of Nueva Vizcaya, they were able to hand out food packs, medicines, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to those in need.
The company’s initial donation consisted of 2,500 face masks and 25 gallons of alcohol to the provincial government, and 20 pieces of Tyvek suits and goggles to the Municipal Health Office of Quezon town and 50 sacks of rice to the Quezon local government unit.
“We will further purchase more PPEs which will be distributed to government agencies mandated to battle the coronavirus disease in the province,” Moller said.
