The Filminera Resources Corp. and the Phil. Gold Refining & Processing Corp. (PGRPC) have pooled a combined amount of P27 million from its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to aid in the COVID-19 response efforts of the Province of Masbate.
In coordination with the municipal mayor, provincial governor, and local line agencies, the first wave of support – conducted from March 15 to March 30 – consisted of assistance to the Rural Health Unit of Aroroy. The package donation included multi-vitamins, vitamin C, thermal guns, personal protective gears, quarantine tents, chlorine tablets, isopropyl alcohol, and disinfectants.
An ambulance unit was also turned over to the Masbate Provincial Health Office and another unit will be delivered in the coming weeks.
Likewise, the firms also donated over 200 sacks of rice to be distributed to marginalized constituents in other municipalities.
The second and third wave of the drive – conducted from March 30 to April 30 – consisted of relief packs for the eight impact barangays, and rice to be distributed to the neighboring barangays and other municipalities in the province.
Cash donations worth P80,000 was also given to the Bicol Regional Teaching Training Hospital through the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office.
Furthermore, PGPRC also donated P5 million to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office as part of its CSR program.
To date, realigned SDMP expenditure is over P8 million from the date of lockdown.
