The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has partnered with Isla Lipana &Co./PwC Philippines to help in reviewing the systems and processes of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
The project looks to review the current policies of both MGB and EMB and identify the major gaps in their processes and functions.
DENR Secretary Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga said that the recent DENR Field Operations Management Conference found gaps in the processes and has the potential for synergy.
“This will be an opportunity to actually address those gaps and to build value on the efforts done by everyone in the department,” Yulo-Loyzaga said.
Under the partnership, PwC will conduct a comprehensive assessment through appropriate governance, risk management, and compliance tools to review and assess risks in the existing systems and processes of MGB and EMB.
Furthermore, the project will develop a five-year transformation roadmap with equivalent action plans and recommendations for improvement that will help strengthen the DENR for better organizational performance.
PwC will also provide technical partnership and assistance to deliver DENT’s desired outcomes of strengthening the agency and its bureaus, especially the existing systems and processes in the MGB and EMB.
At the end of the partnership, PwC will submit a completion report, which includes the results of the organizational and process diagnosis and assessment; observations, and areas for improvement, and a five-year transformation roadmap.
“If we are able to solve these important issues at the most difficult spots of the agency, then it will be no problem solving the rest of the issues,” Isla Lipana chairman emeritus Alex Cabrera said.
