Filminera Resources Corporation and Philippine Gold Processing & Refining Corporation marked a significant safety milestone at the Masbate Gold Project (MGP) in Aroroy, Masbate.

Manila Standard reported that the companies had completed six years without a lost-time injury (LTI), totaling 2,192 days and 38.6 million hours worked as of November 17.

Philippine Gold, the gold processing and refining operator at MGP, received the national silver award at the 13th Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan from the Department of Labor and Employment’s Occupational Safety and Health Center.

Meanwhile, Filminera, responsible for mining operations at MGP, earned the platinum award in the Philippine Mineral Industry Excellence Awards during the Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference.

The companies attributed their safety success to a “zero harm” policy, supported by an employee-driven culture focused on injury prevention and robust Occupational Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental Management Systems.

Both firms implemented procedures to ensure employee safety at every stage of their work rotation, further strengthening workplace well-being.

Philippine Gold President Ryan Rusk credited teamwork for building a culture of safety that extended beyond the worksite to employees’ families and communities.

Rusk noted the shared responsibility among leadership, workers, and contractors in identifying and mitigating workplace hazards.

Filminera President Cris Acosta emphasized the need for constant vigilance, calling safety performance a delicate achievement that requires ongoing commitment.

Acosta added that maintaining safety transcends individual roles, requiring continuous effort to uphold standards.

Philippine Gold is fully owned by B2Gold Corp., a Canada-based senior gold producer, which also holds a 40% stake in Filminera.
