B2Gold Corporation has confirmed its plans to expand operations in the Philippines in 2025.
Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Toronto Trade Commissioner Mario Tani disclosed that B2Gold intends to open an exploration office in the country next year.
“The mine site is about to reach its end of life. So in mining, for you to determine if you can continue mining and expand or look for additional sites to mine you need to have extensive research and analysis,” Tani explained.
He added that this phase typically involves significant investment and the hiring of local geologists to conduct studies.
B2Gold currently operates the Masbate Gold Project in Aroroy, Masbate, which is projected to yield between 175,000 and 195,000 ounces of gold this year.
“B2Gold’s decision to expand its operations here demonstrates the trust global investors have in the Philippines’ strong policies, strategic reforms, and skilled workforce under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s leadership,” said Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Roque.
