The Runruno Gold Project has propelled Quezon town in Nueva Vizcaya from a fourth-class municipality to first-class status, underscoring the significant socioeconomic benefits brought by FCF Minerals Corporation.

In a report by the Inquirer, Quezon town Mayor Dolores Binwag credited FCF for its role in enhancing public services and community welfare. She highlighted that all barangays, apart from Runruno, directly benefit from the national wealth share derived from FCF’s excise tax payments. These funds have been allocated to essential infrastructure projects, including a Php 150 million road initiative.

The project’s impact extends to education, with FCF’s scholarship programs enabling many students to complete their studies despite financial challenges. Binwag acknowledged that the initiative has helped transform the lives of young residents by providing them with greater career opportunities.

FCF Minerals, a subsidiary of London-listed Metals Exploration Plc., has been a key driver of local development through infrastructure projects, job creation, education programs, and healthcare initiatives. The company’s operations have substantially contributed to the town’s economic progress.

Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Planning and Development Officer Edgardo Sabado emphasized the employment opportunities generated by the mining project. He noted that 97% of FCF’s workforce consists of local residents, making the company a crucial contributor to household incomes and the municipal economy.

FCF’s commitment to responsible mining has earned it national recognition. The company has received the Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award for three consecutive years, along with accolades for maintaining the safest mining and surface mining operations at the 70th National Mine Safety and Environment Conference in Baguio City.

Metals Exploration and FCF CEO Darren Bowden, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to safety, sustainability, and community development. He emphasized that FCF remains focused on improving the quality of life for host communities while ensuring environmentally responsible mining practices.

As Quezon reaps the long-term benefits of the Runruno Gold Project, the town’s transformation highlights the potential of sustainable mining to drive regional progress. Stakeholders are encouraged to support responsible resource development that balances economic growth with environmental and social responsibility.
