Global Ferronickel Holdings, Inc., the Philippines’ second-largest nickel ore producer, earned PHP 617 million in the first half of the year, up 206% from PHP 201 million during the same period in 2024. Higher nickel prices drove the significant rise in profit.
FNI disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange that it posted PHP 3.29 billion in revenues, up 6.8% from last year. The bulk of this year’s revenues came from the company’s nickel ore exports.
Of the total revenues, FNI’s Palawan Mine contributed PHP 2.1 billion, while the Surigao Mine contributed PHP 1.19 billion. Shipments from both mines, which totaled 1.62 million Wet Metric Tons (WMT), were down in the first half of 2025 from 2.11 million WMT in the same period last year.
Volume at the Surigao Mine was down by 29.5%, while volume at the Palawan Mine fell by 17% due to bad weather, permit delays, and vessel arrival timing. Prices per ton, however, rose sharply, with low-grade ore sold at USD 31.41 this year versus USD 17.98 in 2024, and medium-grade ore sold at USD 42.50 versus USD 30.54 last year.
In a separate development, FNI’s in-house legal team received top recognition at the 2025 Asian Legal Business Southeast Asia Law Awards in Singapore, winning the In-House Team of the Year award for Construction and Real Estate. The company was also a finalist in several other categories, reflecting its commitment to governance, legal integrity, and sustainable growth.
FNI was named In-House Team of the Year (Construction and Real Estate), and earned finalist placements in several other categories, including Top 5, Energy and Resources In-House Team of the Year; Top 6, Woman Lawyer of the Year (In-House) for Eveart Grace P. Claro; and Top 15, Fintech Lawyer of the Year for Leo Ernesto Thomas G. Romero.
These latest achievements follow the company’s strong performance in the 2024 ALB Philippine Law Awards, where FNI also won the Construction and Real Estate category and was a finalist for Philippine In-House Team of the Year, In-House Team of the Year (Innovation), and Philippine In-House Lawyer of the Year (Noel B. Lazaro).
