Dinapigue Mining Corporation (DMC), a subsidiary of Nickel Asia Corp., is reinforcing its port facility in Isabela with 750 concrete tetrapods under a PHP 22 million supply contract with Concrete Stone Corporation (CSC), Manila Standard reported.

A tetrapod—in engineering—refers to a tetrahedral-shaped concrete structure designed to protect coastal zones. They are commonly used along seawalls, breakwaters, and ports for erosion control and wave dissipation.

Their unique shape allows seawater to flow around them rather than crash directly against the structures, reducing wave energy and minimizing displacement by interlocking with one another.

CSC’s supply contract with DMC highlights the growing demand for coastal protection structures in mining-linked infrastructure. Tetrapods, known for their durability and wave-dissipating design, will help safeguard DMC’s port against erosion and heavy swells.

“This is just the beginning of a productive partnership between CSC and DMC,” said Alfredo Comendador Jr., president of CSC.

CSC noted that demand for precast and modular materials continues to rise, driven by government infrastructure projects and private sector expansion. By 2026, CSC is expected to become a subsidiary of Asiabest Group International Inc. (ABG), which will give the company access to capital markets for further growth.

The Dinapigue port development underscores how mining operations rely on suppliers like CSC to support safe and efficient logistics. As port and coastal projects expand, the role of concrete solutions will be central to ensuring long-term stability and resilience.
