Global Ferronickel Holdings, Inc. (FNI) once again earned praise for legal excellence after its in-house team brought home top honors at the 2025 Asian Legal Business (ALB) Philippine Law Awards, held on October 8 at Shangri-La The Fort, Bonifacio Global City.
FNI Legal Officer Atty. Reeno E. Febrero was named Young Lawyer of the Year (In-House), while Chief Legal Counsel Atty. Noel B. Lazaro was a finalist for In-House Lawyer of the Year. The company also received multiple finalist citations, including In-House Woman Lawyer of the Year for Atty. Mary Louisse S. Inguillo, Philippine In-House Team of the Year, In-House Team of the Year (Construction and Real Estate), and Innovative In-House Team of the Year.
The recognition follows FNI’s strong track record at regional and international legal events. Earlier this year, the company’s legal department won In-House Team of the Year (Construction and Real Estate) at the 2025 ALB Southeast Asia Law Awards in Singapore. It was also honored at the 2024 ALB Philippine Law Awards and the In-House Community (IHC) Awards, where FNI was chosen for its governance and legal innovation.
Atty. Lazaro said the team’s continued success reflects its shared values of collaboration, integrity, and purpose-driven lawyering. “These honors belong to the whole of FNI—because our work is never just individual,” he said. “Every milestone we reach stands on the shoulders of teamwork, trust, and our shared belief that mining, when guided by purpose and progress, can truly serve communities and the nation.”
Earlier that day, Atty. Lazaro also joined a panel at the 2025 ALB Philippine In-House Legal Summit, where he discussed the evolving role of general counsels as strategic business partners amid shifting geopolitical, regulatory, and technological landscapes.
Organized by Thomson Reuters, the ALB Philippine Law Awards celebrate the country’s top law firms, in-house teams, and corporate counsels across various industries. FNI’s consistent recognition, both locally and regionally, reinforces its reputation as one of the Philippines’ most respected in-house legal teams and a model for governance excellence in the mining sector.
How can legal departments across industries strengthen their role as both ethical stewards and strategic partners in driving national progress?
