Semirara Mining and Power Corp. (SMPC) named Ma. Cristina Gotianun as its president and chief operating officer after the company’s Board of Directors approved her appointment on Monday, April 29.
The listed mining and oil company said in a disclosure to the bourse that Gotianun’s appointment took effect last Friday.
SMPC’s Board of Directors initially selected Gotianun as its officer-in-charge president of the company and its subsidiaries SEM-Calaca Power Corp. and Southwest Luzon Power Generation Corp.
Before Victor A. Consunji passed away due to pancreatic cancer last December 27, 2018, Gotianun held the positions of executive vice-president and chief information officer of SMPC.
Gotianun graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in BS Business Ecomics degree.
SMPC, a unit of DMCI Holdings Inc., owns and mines its own fuel source to generate affordable baseload power for the Luzon and Visayas grids.
Due to lower recorded sales last year in both of its coal mining and power generation businesses, it reported a 15 percent slide to P 12 billion in its 2018’s consolidated next income last month.
