OceanaGold Philippines, Inc. (OGPI) launched its scholarship program for mining-related courses under its Development of Mining Technology and Geosciences (DMTG) series in its host communities in the Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino provinces.
“We accept applications from high school graduates who will be taking up engineering courses and from those already enrolled in engineering courses geared towards the development of mining technology and geosciences,” OGPI General Manager David Way said.
Applications are now opened and must be filed before October 15, 2017.
OGPI will be offering mining-related courses including mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, and geology, along with non-mining engineering degrees such as agricultural, civil, geodetic, chemical, electrical, materials, mechanical, and sanitary.
Degrees in environmental science and forestry are also among OGPI’s ambitious roster of course offerings.
Scholarships will have inclusions of P25,000 for tuition and miscellaneous fees; P10,000 book allowance; and P10,000 monthly allowance for mining recipients.
Meanwhile, non-mining beneficiaries will enjoy P25,000 for tuition and miscellaneous fees; P10,000 book allowance; and P8,000 monthly stipend.
OGPI has partnered with major sponsor schools such as Saint Louis University in Baguio City and University of the Philippines in Quezon City, along with CHED-accredited state colleges and universities and educational institutions across the country.
