Australian mining firm giant expands PH operations

Orica Philippines, Inc. will be expanding its operations in the country, showing a positive outlook in the mining sector’s potential as construction activities rebound from pandemic-related lows and mine sites expand.

In a report by Business World, Gordon Wallace, the Country Head for Orica in the Philippines, expressed optimism about the industry’s growth, citing significant mineral deposits in the country and the relevance of Orica’s technology.

However, he acknowledged that significant changes in the market might take time due to the slow process of mining approvals.

While the mining industry evolves, Orica’s electronic blasting systems and environmental monitoring technologies have assisted miners in complying with safety and environmental regulations.

Wallace emphasized the increasing importance of responsible mining practices as mines approach communities, making these technologies a key focus for the country.

Orica’s wireless blasting system, WebGen, offers safer mining methods and reduces risks, particularly in areas considered dangerous. Wallace emphasized the role of technology in changing mining methods and enhancing safety.

As mineral deposits go deeper, Orica’s proprietary technology enables more companies to effectively manage risks associated with mining operations.

Orica specializes in providing commercial explosives and blasting systems to various sectors, including mining, quarrying, oil and gas, and construction. The company’s parent firm, Orica Ltd., is listed on the Australia Stock Exchange.
