The Chamber of Mines of the Philippines (COMP) has welcomed the nomination of Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) under the Marcos Administration.
In a report by the Philippine Star, COMP said that they prepared to work with Yulo-Loyzaga’s advocacies in disaster risk reduction and response, sustainable development, and climate change protection.
The group of mining companies also looks forward to fulfilling the Marcos administration’s goal of balancing economic development and environmental protection within the mining sector.
COMP added that Yulo-Loyzaga can depend on the group in finding illegal miners and reducing irresponsible mining practices that have tarnished the reputation of the mining industry in the country.
This week, Marcos nominated Yulo-Loyzaga as his DENR Secretary.
Yulo-Loyzaga served as the executive director of the Manila Observatory and technical adviser of the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation. She was also a member of the senior advisory board of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Command and General Staff College.
