The Mines and Geosciences Bureau in the Davao Region (MGB-11) says that the gross production value of mineral resources in the Davao Region reached Php 11.7 billion in 2023.
MGB-11 Officer-in-Charge Beverly Mae Brevante reported that the region is abundant in mineral resources, particularly gold, nickel, and copper.
This valuation is derived from the production of four large-scale mineral companies, which collectively paid Php 487.7 million in excise taxes last year.
“The excise tax goes to the national government,” Brevante added, noting that the region now has 41 large-scale mining agreements and permits.
Additionally, Department of Environment and Natural Resources director in the Davao Region Ma. Mercedes Dumagan said the region has a lot of sand and gravel reserves, with 313 permits given by local governments.
