The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has lifted the suspension of DMCI Mining Corp.’s nickel mine operations in Zambales.
According to a BusinessWorld report, DMCI Holdings Inc. disclosed that the Zambales Diversified Metals Corp. (ZDMC) received the resolution dated September 30 issued by the DENR on October 9.
“Through said Resolution, DENR has ordered to lift the suspension of the ZDMC’s mine operations,” DMCI stated in the report.
In another recent news, the ZDMC mining operations suspension was endorsed for lifting on September 10 after successfully submitting pertinent documents to resume operations in Sta. Cruz, Zambales.
The Berong and Zambales mines accounted for less than five percent of the country’s nickel-ore output which is used to manufacture stainless steel and electric vehicle batteries.
China is expected to rely on the Philippines to supply nickel-ore demand after Indonesia’s export ban takes place in 2020.
