The government of the United States will be extending a grant for the country’s nickel ore processing for the manufacturing of batteries, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.
During the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), the Philippines highlighted investment opportunities in processing facilities for nickel, cobalt, and copper, and even for non-fossil-based energy sources in the country.
The grant will be done through a partnership with an American company that owns patents in the manufacture of batteries.
“The US firm supplies US military and critical industries including hyperscaler data centers, renewable energy projects, and long-haul trucking companies,” DTI said in a statement.
The American firm, however, was not identified.
