FCF Minerals Corporation was awarded the ‘Best Mining Forest Program’ for the metallic category during the 66th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANSMEC) for its “Adopt-A-Tree” program in Nueva Vizcaya.
According to a report, the award serves as a testimony that FCF is doing its best to comply with all existing rules and regulations and proves that there is such a thing as responsible mining.
“This is our second year of winning the ‘Best Forest Mining Award’ and we aim to pursue more to help properly sustain our rehabilitation efforts for the forest cover of Nueva Vizcaya and provide job opportunities to our stakeholders to improve their lives,” FCF’s General Manager for Sustainability Ian Moller was quoted as saying in the report.
The ‘Adopt-A-Tree’ program has put the firm in the limelight since 2008 as the Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA) recognizes outstanding levels of dedication, initiative, and innovation in the pursuit of entities involved in various aspects of mineral utilization.
The scope of the environmental management includes, among others, programs, projects, or activities implemented for the protection of the environment, enhancement of mining areas, development of the host and neighboring communities, improvement of land use, rehabilitation of mining site, and final decommissioning.
