Filminera Resources Corp. and Phil. Gold Processing & Refining Corp. announced on November 20 that operations within the Masbate Gold Project (MGP) have reached a significant health and safety milestone: seven consecutive years, or 2,557 days, without a lost time injury. The record reflects more than 44.9 million worker hours of incident-free activity and was originally reported on by the Inquirer.
The companies credited the milestone to a culture of prevention, leadership accountability, and consistent day-to-day vigilance across the site. Safety programs span thousands of initiatives, including pre-start crew talks, workplace inspections, leadership observations, targeted training, and millions of corrective actions and hazard identifications addressed over the seven-year period.
“Reaching seven years LTI-free in a high-risk industry is extraordinarily rare. It stands as a powerful testament to what we can accomplish when we work together with a single purpose: ensuring that everyone goes home safe and healthy at the end of every shift,” said Ryan Rusk, president of Phil. Gold. The company operates the MGP processing plant and is a 100% subsidiary of B2Gold Corp.
Cris Acosta, president of Filminera, emphasized the effort behind the achievement. “This milestone was reached through the hard work, vigilance, and dedication of every individual on site. Safety at MGP is not just a policy — it is a culture lived daily through leadership commitment, values-based decision-making, and proactive prevention,” he said.
Filminera operates the mine, with B2Gold holding a 40% interest in the Filipino company. Both firms said the LTI-free streak reinforces MGP’s broader commitment to responsible mining and the well-being of workers and host communities.
