Mining firm Ipilan Nickel Corp. (INC) has maintained its ISO certification for its environmental management system (EMS).
INC’s environment management system applies to its mining operations as well as the development, extraction, hauling, stockyard and port operations of the Nickel Laterite Ore and other associated minerals that cover barangays Maasin, Mambalot, Calasaguen and Ipilan.
“This demonstrates that we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously as we constantly find ways to minimize our impact and consider all environmental issues relevant to our operations,” INC resident mine manager Alex Arabis said.
The certification also reaffirms the company’s commitment to “preserving the beauty of Palawan and adherence to best practices to promote a better future for everyone.”
The EMS certification (ISO 14001:2015) specifies requirements for an EMS that an organization can utilize in order to enhance its environmental performance.
INC operates a mineral production sharing agreement (MPSA) with the government and has an exclusive right to conduct mining operations in the Municipality of Brooke’s Point, Palawan where 260 hectares have been partially declared as a mining area.
INC is the operating arm of Global Ferronickel Holdings Inc. (FNI) in Brooke’s Point, Palawan.
