After the rain-induced landslide in Southern Leyte last Thursday, two workers who had been buried were rescued in Dan-an village, Pintuyan, Southern Leyte.
The rescued workers were Alexander Amplayo and Johnley Amplayo, both residents of Cuasi Village in San Francisco town, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) report.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), regional office in Palo, Leyte, the construction workers were building a cell site in the Dan-an Elementary School when a portion of land crumbled and buried them.
The workers were confined at the Pintuyan District Hospital due to serious injuries.
The regional police department noted that students and teachers of the nearby school were unharmed.
The province has been experiencing monsoon rains since last week.
Southern Leyte province was ranked as the seventh most vulnerable to heavy landslides in the country with 78 percent landslide probability, according to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).
