British-owned FCF Minerals Corporation partnered with the local government unit (LGU) of Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya in starting a tree nursery project in the town.
FCF Minerals’ acting general manager for operations Ian Moller said the tree nursery project was established through their Community Relations Office following the successful implementation of last year’s Clean and Green Project also with the LGU’s coordination.
“This will also boost our Forest Mining Project in this municipality with the availability of tree seedlings to be planted. This will be undertaken through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA),” Moller said in a report by Philippine Information Agency.
According to the town’s LGU, the tree nursery project will have participants of various stakeholders who were trained on preparation, planting and production of various tree species.
The management of the nursery, on the other hand, will also undergo a separate set of trainings on the production of three seedlings as per Moller.
Moller added that various vegetables will also be planted in the tree nursery. The harvest will then be distributed to villagers for domestic consumption and livelihood ventures.
The tree nursery project is one of FCF Minerals’ contributions to the national government’s National Greening Program (NGP) headed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
FCF Minerals, a mining company incorporated in 2001, has a gold-molybdenum mining project in the town of Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya.
