Oriental Petroleum and Minerals Corporation (OPMC) is looking to explore over 14,000 hectares of land in Zambales and Dinagat Islands for nickel and other associated metals.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, the company said that it is securing exploration permits (EPs) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).
The EPs cover five areas in Zambales totaling 13,816 hectares and two areas in Dinagat Islands with a total area of 863 hectares.
Three of the five areas in Zambales were already assigned with Exploration Permit Applications by the MGB.
Incorporated in 1969, OPMC has an exploration interest in Service Contract 14 in the West Philippine Sea off the coast of northern Palawan.
