Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation (MMDC) announced the completion of its infrastructure projects in 2018 all earlier than set target dates.
The completed projects are composed of widening of the Panikian haul road. The said road is 1.8 kilometers long traversing active mining areas in Barangay Panikian, Carrascal in the province of Surigao del Sur.
Also included are the bridges of Cabangahan, Alamio, and Banban where major river systems run through some of Surigao del Sur’s towns.
Rodrigo Cal, MMDC General Manager, said the Panikian road widening project primarily aims to create a road, separate from the existing provincial highway, dedicated for MMDC operations.
The new road can provide safer working conditions for company personnel and community members, and improve travel time for the MMDC’s hauling equipment.
“Our primary concern here is safety and convenience for community residents, while resulting in transport efficiency for the company’s operations,” Cal said.
On the other hand, full access to MMDC’s active mine areas is now easier thanks to the three constructed bridges of Cabangahan, Alamio, and Banban which all can be used by the residents even after the mining company ends its operations in the area.
