The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) has released the selection process timeline for the country’s nominees of the second ASEAN Mining Awards (AMA).
ASEAN Mineral Awards for the Recognition of Best Practices in Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Mineral Development has three categories: Best Practices in Metallic and Non-metallic Minerals Mining, Best Practices in Metallic and Non-metallic Minerals Processing, and Best Practices in Metallic and Non-metallic Minerals Distribution.
The submission of nominations ended in February 15 while the evaluation and selection procedures for the entries will end on March 6.
A Technical Working Committee (TWC) composed of MGB’s technical division chiefs assisted by the Philippine-AMA (PH-AMA) is tasked with overseeing the evaluation and selection procedure for country nominees.
AMA Board of Judges expects to get the submitted successful listings on March 31 while shortlisted projects will be announced on September this year.
OceanaGold Philippines Inc. was included among Southeast Asia’s best in mining processing awardees while Nickel Asia Corp.’s Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp. (RTNMC) won the Best Mineral Mining category in last year’s ASEAN Mineral Awards’ held during the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Minerals in Naypyidaw, Myanmar.
