Silangan Mindanao Mining Co., Inc. (SMMCI) announced the completion of the Shaft 2 ventilation drive on August 28, nine days ahead of schedule.
While the ventilation system is not yet exhausting air, SMMCI is preparing to complete additional drives that will link the South Ore perimeter. Once achieved, the mine will have its full underground ventilation cycle.
The Underground Mine Planning team set the project for September 6, 2025, but completed the work on August 28, 2025, at 12:20 p.m.
SMMCI added that the development keeps the Silangan mine on track with its goals, reinforcing strong momentum for the future.
Philex President and CEO Eulalio Austin Jr earlier said that the Silangan Project is targeted for commissioning before the year ends.
