Taiwanese mining company Xin Ye Precious Metal Technology Co. Ltd. sought the endorsement of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of its eco-friendly, cyanide-free, ore-stripping technology for artisanal and small-scale gold mining in the Philippines.
According to a Manila Times report, the firm’s locally patented GP-860 solution can help artisanal and small-scale miners abide by government policies on responsible mining practices as it replaces the traditional extraction process with a cyanide- and mercury-free, non-toxic gold stripping method.
As stated in the report, GP-860 can shorten the ore-to-gold processing to six to eight hours with a gold stripping rate at 98 percent and refined gold purity at 99.9 percent.
“We are committed to the protection of our environment and natural resources by responsible mining,” Xin Ye President Michael Yao was quoted as saying in the report.
This followed Xin Ye’s launch of its first gold processing facility in Camarines Norte.
Apart from collaborating with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) to promote the solution to all “Minahang Bayan” areas nationwide, the initiative will be executed through the company’s local subsidiary, Philippine Xi Ye Industry Ltd. Inc.
