DMCI Mining Corporation anticipates launching operations for two new nickel mines by year-end, with the company awaiting official responses on key approvals.
In a report by Manila Standard, DMCI Mining president Tulsi Das Reyes announced that DMCI Mining is on track to start its new nickel projects in Zambales and potentially in Brooke’s Point, Palawan, by the end of this year.
The firm has already submitted the necessary documentation for the Zambales site.
Reyes explained that while the approval process for government permits can be lengthy, the company is actively working to secure the required permits for both nickel projects. Despite these challenges, Reyes remains optimistic about the upcoming developments.
In addition to its current projects, DMCI is exploring opportunities to acquire assets in the coal, copper, and gold mining sectors within the next two to three years.
DMCI Mining operates open-pit nickel mines in Palawan and Zambales through its subsidiaries, Berong Nickel Corporation (BNC) and Zambales Diversified Metals Corporation (ZDMC).
